The Top 5 Wednesday prompt came a little late this week and I didn’t feel sufficiently prepared, so I’m just going to do a post on my April book haul! April was a mix of buys, giveaway wins, and ARCs. I’m moderately proud of myself for listening to my wallet for once and only buying 7 books.
And I just realized how perfect it is that Dust and Light is covered with dust and washed in light in this photo. Also, please excuse the plant matter on the bottom.
BOUGHT:
♦ Grey Sister (Book of the Ancestor 2) by Mark Lawrence
→ Review here
♦ Fire Dance by Ilana C. Myer
→ Review here
♦ The Harbors of the Sun (Raksura 5) by Martha Wells

♦ The Girl Who Soared Over Fairyland and Cut the Moon in Two by Catherynne M. Valente
♦ The Force by Don Winslow
→ Fun fact: I found out about this book because Hideo Kojima–game dev and besties with Guillermo del Toro and Mads Mikkelson–was talking about it on Twitter.
♦ Dust and Light (The Sanctuary Duet 1) by Carol Berg
♦ A Book of Tongues (Hexslinger 1) by Gemma Files
GIFTS, GIVEAWAY WINS, ARCs:

So cool you got a copy of The Rig, I believe it’s already on my Goodreads TBR😊
I was super nervous about asking a publisher for an ARC, but they actually replied, to my utter surprise! So that gives me a boost of courage to ask more publishers in the future. 🙂
I haven’t read none of those but the cover of Tess of the Road by Rachel Hartman really caught my eye. I usually don’t pay attention to covers but this one is soooo cool. 🙂 Happy reading. 🙂
It is! I wasn’t sure what I was looking at when I first saw it, and then,”oh, dragon!” 😀
dunno how i haven’t heard of the rig before… but it’s on my list now 😀
love the cover as well
It just looked so pretty and interesting that I ended up begging the publisher for an ARC and to my surprised they listened (?!) which was crazy
AHHH, The Terror! Such a great book!
Lovely book haul. Book of Tongues – not gonna lie that gave me a serious moment of the collywobbles! I love the look of The Terror – even though that statement sounds quite ridiculous.
Happy reading
Lynn 😀
I actually have read the Book of Tongues before and I’ll be happy (or sad) to report that there is no book of actual tongues anywhere in the story. And the Terror *does* look really good! 😉
I was thinking about The Force just yesterday (I haven’t read it; I put it on my Amazon wishlist ages ago).
I’ve had The Cartel on my list for some time now because I’d seen mountains of praise being heaped on it, but never got around to it. I guess The Force will me first foray into Winslow’s work.
i didn’t really enjoy Tess of the Road, but i’ve heard amazing things about grey sisters (and its first book), i hope you’ll love it!
Thank you! I got Tess of the Road as a giveaway win, so I won’t be as disappointed if I don’t end up liking it. 😀
